1. Introduction#
Voca by AppZano (“Voca”, “the app”, “we”, “our” or “us”) is a free augmentative and alternative communication (AAC) application designed to support communication, personal expression and visual daily routines.
Voca is designed with privacy at its core. The app operates locally on your device and does not require an account, an internet connection or a subscription. We do not collect, transmit, sell or share personal information or usage data through Voca.
Although there is no sharing of data, this Privacy Policy explains how Voca handles information and how your device's built-in functionality may interact with the app.
2. Information We Collect#
We do not collect personal information or user data through Voca.
Voca does not operate an account system, analytics service, advertising network, tracking system or telemetry service. The app does not transmit your communication activity or personal content to AppZano or any other recipient.
In particular, Voca does not collect or transmit:
Names, email addresses, account credentials or contact details.
Name within app is just for personalization.
Communication messages, composed sentences or spoken content.
Default sayings / words are included in the app, any additions can be added by the user.
Personal communication boards, schedules, preferences or other custom content.
Personal images or other content you add to the app.
Location information, device identifiers or advertising identifiers.
Usage analytics, behavioural tracking information or crash reports.
Voca does not include advertising or third-party analytics services that collect user information. Any data you generate within the app, such as added words are stored locally on your personal device.
3. Local Storage and Personal Content#
Voca stores the app data necessary for its functionality locally on your device. Depending on the features you use, this may include communication boards, custom content, images, visual schedules and application preferences.
This information is used by the app on your device to provide its communication and personalisation features. Voca does not upload this content to any online platform.
You retain control over your personal content through the app and your device's available storage-management features. Deleting the app or its local data may remove locally stored content. If your device has operating-system backup enabled, any backup behaviour is governed by your device settings and the applicable platform services.
We recommend keeping your own copies of any personal content you cannot easily recreate.
4. Text-to-Speech and Device Languages#
Voca uses speech functionality available through your device to speak messages aloud. Available voices, languages and speech settings depend on your operating system and installed speech services. You can obtain additional device languages & voices through your device settings.
Voca does not operate its own cloud-based voice-generation service and does not send your composed messages to an external service for speech processing.
Some device speech engines or operating-system services may have their own data-handling practices, particularly where a voice or language requires an online service. Those services are provided and governed by their respective providers, not by Voca. Please consult your device and speech-service settings for information about their operation.
5. Internet Access and Third-Party Services#
Voca's core functionality is designed to work offline. It does not require an internet connection to use its local communication features.
Voca does not intentionally transmit personal information or app usage data over the internet. It does not integrate advertising, analytics, account-management or cloud-synchronisation services for collecting user data.
Downloading the app, installing updates or accessing the Google Play Store may involve processing by Google and other relevant platform providers. Those activities are governed by the providers' own privacy policies and are outside Voca's control.
6. Data Sharing and Sale#
Because Voca does not collect user data, we do not sell, rent, disclose or share personal information collected through the app with advertisers, data brokers or other third parties.
Your communication content is not used for advertising, profiling, marketing or artificial intelligence training by AppZano. We may however use Play Store reviews as part of our ongoing development and updates should you wish to leave a review.
7. Data Retention and Deletion#
AppZano / Voca does not maintain a server-side database of Voca users or their communication content.
App data remains on your device for as long as it is retained by the application and your device's storage-management settings. You can delete local app data through the available device settings or uninstall Voca.
Uninstalling the app may not remove copies retained independently by your operating system's backup services. Please consult your device settings and relevant service provider if you wish to remove such copies.
As Voca does not create user accounts or maintain a server-side collection of personal user data, there is no Voca account to delete and no server-side user profile to request deletion of.
8. Children's Privacy#
Voca may be used by children, adults and people who benefit from augmentative and alternative communication.
We do not knowingly collect personal information from children or other users through Voca. The app does not require registration, request personal details or provide behavioural advertising.
Parents, guardians, carers and other supporting adults may assist users with device settings and the management of locally stored content where appropriate.
9. Security#
Voca is designed to minimise privacy risks by keeping personal communication content on the user's device and avoiding the collection and transmission of user data.
As the app does not maintain a server-side user database, we do not operate a server-side repository of communication content.
Users should maintain appropriate device security, including screen locks, operating-system updates and control of access to their devices and backups.
No software or storage system can guarantee absolute security, and device-level security remains partly dependent on the operating system, device configuration and other software installed on the device.
10. Your Privacy Rights#
Because Voca does not collect or maintain personal user information on AppZano servers, there is generally no server-side personal data held by us to access, correct or delete.
You can manage or remove information stored locally through the app and your device's available settings.
Depending on your location, you may have additional rights under applicable data-protection laws. If you have a privacy question or believe information has been processed in connection with Voca, you can contact us using the details below.
11. Changes to This Privacy Policy#
We may update this Privacy Policy if Voca's functionality, applicable legal requirements or privacy practices change.
Any revised version will be published at the official privacy policy URL, with an updated effective date. Material changes to the app's data-handling practices will be reflected in the policy and, where required, the app's disclosures and Google Play Data safety declarations.
